Smithers Bridging Committee

Created as a subcommittee of the Smithers Social Planning Council, the Smithers Bridging Committee was formed in 2002 after it was identified that building relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples was the highest community priority. The Smithers Bridging Committee supports and facilitates the sharing of cultures and the building of lasting relationships. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive community between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in the Bulkley Valley. We do this through education, partnership, celebration, arts-based projects, dialogue, and reflection.
